There are many ways to stop getting spam comments, in wordpress. But the best way so far is using Akismet plug-in.
All wordpress 2.0 and greater version already contains this plug-in, you just have to activate it from the plug-in manager, but if you don’t have it for some reason download it from its official web site.
Next step is to activate it, which is very tricky. Not to worry, this tutorial is for activating it!
When you try to activate it, it asks for an API key, which is unique for everyone, it’s something like a “password”, so don’t share it, or it may not work :/
Continuing with the activation… go to wordpress.com and create your own blog, remember it’s not Wordpress.ORG go to Wordpress.COM.
Have you created it? Great! Now go to the admin area of your wordpress.com blog, click on the “Profile” or “My Account” link. Now you will be able to see your API key! Just copy it, for security reason I’ve saved it on my PC, you can do it too. Now enter your API Key, when it asks, while activating.
You are done! Say good bye to nasty comments!
If this tutorial helped you out, then please credit Hpa, thanks!
